Week of April 6th: Library Story Time: Dragons Love Tacos

Hello VUES readers,
Below are the library activities for the week of April 6th-April 10th.

1) Listen and watch the Dragons Love Tacos video.
2) Draw and write about your favorite part in the book. If you have a printer, you can use this Favorite Part worksheet.
3)For extra fun, keep filling out the Distance Reading Menu that was sent home from school. If you can't find your menu, here's a link to print out or look at a new copy

Week of May 25th: Snappsy the Alligator

This week's Read Aloud is: Snappsy the Alligator (Did Not Ask To Be In This Book) Written by: Julie Falatko Illustrated by: Tim Miller Discussion : Why does Snappsy think the narrator is “an awful narrator?” Use examples from the story to explain your response. Activity : Draw Snappsy and use speech bubble to have Snappsy talk. You can also write a sentence to narrate or explain what is going on it the scene. See the example below. Week of May 4th: The Gruffalo

This week's story is: The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson, illustrated by Axel Scheffler Read by former First Lady, Michelle Obama Discuss:  1. Why do the animals want the mouse to visit?  2. Why is the mouse surprised to meet the Gruffalo? 3. Why do the animals run away from the mouse and the Gruffalo? Story Activity:  Name and Design a New Creature by Combining 2 Different Animals Gruffalo is the name of the monster in this story.  Gruffalo sounds like buffalo. What if the Gruffalo was a mix of two animals?   Gr oundhog + b uffalo = gruffalo   Can you make a new creature from two different animals?    1) Select two different animals. 2) Mix two different animals together to create a new animal (or monster).  Name your new animal.  Try to use letters and sounds from the 2 animals that you mixed. 3) Draw or create your new animal/monster.   You can use this handy worksheet .
